Appears he's being considered for the vacant Kettering job after helping out at Daggers.

If he gets the job by the weekend, his first game is against Lincoln - managed by his old mate Steve Tilson!

The club will regret that big time makes no sense....bring in a manager who failed at peterbourgh and darlington for a well established manager in non league who actually wasn't doing an all bad job there...glad he's out of that mess and hopefully good times lay ahead for him..who know he may go manage tibury Good luck stimo!!

Oh Dear.
Mark is on the crest of a slump.
He incurred the wrath of the fans towards the end at Gillingham.
He incurred the wrath of the fans from the beginning at Barnet.
At least he won't have that problem at Thurrock!

I think he was interested in returning to us when Julian Dicks left. He didn't apply for the job as he was unsure of the reaction of our supporters given the circumstances of his leaving.
Would he have been welcomed back?

Hard to say Glyn, personally I think this is purely to put himself back in the shop window, first opportunity of a job at a proper serious club he will be off.
One thing though I am sure of the glory hunters will probably shuffle over to ship lane to have a look.

Would he have been welcomed back? I think he would have been welcomed back but also I believe that it never works generally when a player or manager returns to a club as expectaitions are always too high circa Thurgood, McKenzie, Griffiths and many others and that is only our club. Sometimes it comes off but more than often doesn't so good luck to Stimmo, you may need it. p s would have been interesting if we had gone up with Purfrocks ex-manager at our place and our ex-boss at theirs

Yes with the glory hunters going back to support them I can see GENUINE attendances flying back to numbers in excess of 80.

Interesting article in today's NLP.
Lots of references to his time at Grays and this quote:
"A big question from Thurrock to me was - 'if you do really well and within two or three months, a big club comes in, you'll leave us'. Well, I'm not looking to leave........................I'm not saying I don't want to get back up the football ladder, and be in the Football Laegue again, but this feels good for some reason and sometimes a shake of the hand is better than a contract, as I discovered under possibly the best chairman I worked for, Mick Woodward".
Shame Stimo didn't carry on the work at Grays when he had every opportunity to continue what he started. Perhaps he's learnt some lessons from his time in the Football League.

I would have taken Stimmo back in a shot, lets be honest its all well and good having money to spend as a manager, its another making it count and he was the only manager that produced the goods when the money was still there.
Also as for his time after, was a success at Stevenage in a short time, in League football, he took over an aging squad at the Gills and took them straight back up and lost his job for them being relegated again, but since then they have done nothing either and Barnet are a club punching well above their weight, even an ex international manager struggled there.
People will always slaughter him for moving on but it amazes me really. When players show ambition and move on they are applauded, Stimmo left to Stevenage who although in our league at the time was an outfit we could not touch in terms of infrastructure, longevity and size of club
But to again answer your first question, yeh I would have taken Stimmo back, a real student of the game who likes to being through young talent....perfect for non league teams

Didn.t Stimmo have a great slice of luck when a local team was in finacial difficulties and 3 really good players joined us to turn us into a really great squad?Glyn please refresh my failing memory.

You mean when the following joined from Hornchurch? Ashley Bayes Jamie Stuart Lee Matthews John Martin Steve West
We were already doing very well without them, but without doubt they did improve the squad.

Good luck to Stimmo we enjoyed some brilliant football during his reign and look where some of our players that he bought in are now. I don't remember Gary Hooper playing a lot but look where he is along with Keightly and Aaron , as well as numerous others. We now have to live within a much smaller budget and I look forward to the new season under Hassan.

Mark has added Tony Gay to his backroom staff, he says he will bring enthusiasm to raise the team and the clubs morale.
