He still comes across as a really down to earth person. I hope he can stay injury free and show everyone what he's capable of. He left some great memories. His goal at Rushden (remember them?!) in the 3-1 victory remains one of the best I've ever seen from a Grays player.

"Winger is set to be offered a Premier League escape route by the Hammers after going down with Wolves last month One possible way is Essex: Kightly could return 'home' by joining West Ham One possible way is Essex: West Ham boss Sam Allardyce wants to bring Essex boy Michael Kightly back to his old manor. Winger Kightly was relegated to the Championship with struggling Wolves, where he made a handful of appearances after returning from knee problems. Now Allardyce is trying to agree a bargain deal to add Basildon-born Kightly, who battled his way to the big time after being released by Spurs and spending years in the non-League ranks, to his Premier League-bound squad. Kightly, 26, may snap up the chance of cracking it with the Hammers - whose celebrity fans include actress Keira Knightley - if the terms are right." Nice rumour! I enjoyed watching him when he played for Wolves in the friendly at the Rec following his move all those years ago. Perhaps he'll make his debut on 20 July at Rush Green!?

It will be great to see him playing in the Premier League again - hopefully fully fit this time.
(Anecdote time: When we beat Bognor 3-0 in the first game of last season, my son was having a friendly discussion with an oppo supporter who didn't think much of us. My lad asked him how many Bognor players had moved on to play in the premier league. The fella was stumped so my boy reeled off McLean, Kightly with Hooper about to play for Norwich in his first game the next week - 3 points to us!).
