Where in Grays did a world famous naturalist, explorer and collector, a contemporary of Charles Darwin, live? What was the house he built there entirely made of? Who lives in the house now?

25 College Avenue. It was one of the first solid concrete houses, formed using shuttering, not pre fab.
No idea who lives there now though

It could be Mr Wallace of Dell Road who put the idea of the theory of evolution into the mind of Charles Darwin. I believe the original house was made of concrete and the road was named after the house.

What I meant was the Convent's address is 25 College Avenue. Whether or not that was the correct address, I know not.

You're quite right Butch. The main convent building is indeed number 23. According to the Thurrock Council mapping system number 25 is called The Convent Annexe -

The individual was Albert Russell Wallace who built his house in the wooded area at the end of what is now College Avenue (No. 25), he called it The Dell. This is comemorated by Dell Road, Russell Road and Wallace Road. The house was the first in the town to be built of concrete - even the staircase is made of the stuff. The residents today are a group of 'older' nuns.
