I am trying to find out some information about my grandad who was part of the Grays team that got banned for being paid in the 1950's! Scandal haha
He was banned for a year apparently by the FA...
He is 89 and still remembers it all like it was yesterday. He is on his own now at home and so I was hoping to give us something to talk about by seeing if anyone can share any information/stats etc from his playing days.
I know it might be unlikely as it was so long ago but just trying to make an old man very happy.
He always plays down his footballing career so just seeing if can find out more about what he achieved.
Thanks in advance.

The name is in the subject, Dennis Drury. I don't have the details to hand, but will have a little look at what I do have.

Would your father and yourself like to attend a game at Mill Field as guests of the Grays Athletic Trust?

Would your father and yourself like to attend a game at Mill Field as guests of the Grays Athletic Trust? Thats very generous of you, would I be able to get back to you? Grandad is very reluctant to get out these days but I will let him know, much appreciated. I am 22 at the moment, and used to play for Brentwood Town FC before I injured my ankle and was out for 2 years. I have just started training again so hopefully I will get an opportunity to play for this great team at some point in the future!

Well, we are playing Brentwood on Bank Holiday Monday - 3pm kick off at Mill Field, Aveley.
Get over if you can, make yourself known at the turnstile and you are welcome to join us for the game.
I’ll be the old man selling programmes just inside the entrance after you come through the turnstile.

... make yourself known at the turnstile and you are welcome to join us for the game. Free of charge, of course. I'll pick up the tab. Let me know if you need transport to/from Mill Field.

Thank you so much for your generosity.
I'm doubt this Monday he'll come but I will work on him as it's hard to get him away from my nans care home.
He is very elderly now with severe arthritis but refuses to back down from getting about. Lives in Upminster these days.
By the way, his good friend was a Stan Prince who also played for grays and represented Great Britain at the 1956 Olympics in Australia
