The guy with the pipe - Harry Benson, maths teacher.
He introduced himself to my class in a very broad Yorkshire accent "My name's Harry BUnson and I'm from BradforT!"
Ah, the memories!

I suppose I didn't do too bad Glynbo .... I got C & G in mechanics and then an HNC in mechanical engineering and passed my GCSE maths at 56 so not too bad for a common geezer.

Alas blueblood, I never went to Palmer's. I only moved to the area in 1988 into one of the starter homes on the Palmer's estate, which I am reliably informed was on the site of the old headteacher's office.

Learnt to swim in the old Exmouth pool before they closed it because of the polio epidemic or as we called it Infantile Paralysis.

Glynbo tell them about the rules for swimming in the Palmers pool.,or had they changed the filtering by the timeyou got there. No trunks allowed! The old woollen ones interfered with the filtering system. Tony "Tough" Hendry, the PE Master instructed us on the backstroke. We were invited to do one length with our "periscopes down"!
