Interesting quote from John Ashton from the article, "Ashton got dumped by Leicester and ended up playing for Notts County, Oxford and Rushden before hitting rock bottom at non-league Grays Athletic.
He admitted: "The penny finally dropped when I was at Grays that I had let my career slip – and I had a lot of regrets. "
Bloody cheek!

He was a lucky boy to have The Master playing alongside him to cover his mistakes while he was at "rock bottom"! He should remember the support he got at GAFC from everybody, especially when he got his bad eye injury, and he should show more gratitude.

to be fair, he never said that he hit rock bottom at Grays....that's The Sun's journalism to imply he said it.
I actually rated him at the time and whilst he made a few mistakes he was one of a few decent players we had during those two difficult seasons.

I agree with you Chris - if he wants to come back for our games against Harlow, Soham and Needham, I would welcome him back with open arms.

Does he still live in Chafford? Strange question to ask. Are you intending to send the boys round to sort him out?

To be fair, Jones is probably right. That is just the way it has been written up. I don't think JA would have said it in quite that way.

I see Jon's doing a Jake Hall lookalike against Coventry right now, albeit with "only" 5 stitches.
Good to see the GAFC tough breeding standing him in good stead.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who sometimes refers to Jake as Luke.....Mind you, I have an excuse as my son went to school and played football with a Luke Hall a few years ago.In fact, that Luke Hall, was on the books at E.Thurrock for some time,

Sorry corringhamblue - not sure what you're referring to? WARNING - GRAPHIC IMAGE OF JON'S INJURY. DO NOT VIEW IF YOU'RE SQUEAMISH, JUNIOR BAKER, JAKE HALL (OR INDEED LUKE HALL)www.glynbo.centelia.net/JonAshtonHeadWound.jpgIt's a Man's game. Great to see Jon's running around like a good 'un, and great to see Jake come on yesterday.
