First I’d like to offer my sincere condolences to John’s family. John always had a smile on his face and I can never remember him being angry. For those who didn’t know him he played a massive part in securing the clubs survival in the 90’s and was there as the club began its rise at the beginning of the Woodward era. Grays Athletic has lost a good friend.

Pleasure to know John over the years, instrumental in turning the Clubhouse from, quite frankly a doshouse, to a welcoming modern bar brilliantly run by Chris Riley. So many good nights after tha games. Sadly missed.

Tragic news. RIP John.
So sad that he had only moved to the Cayman Islands a few years ago to enjoy his retirement.
In addition to his role as a director of the club, John was made a Life President of the club, along with Alan Barnard and Jamie Lee after they left the club during the Mike Woodward era in the mid 2000s. Fred and Jeff Saxton and a certain Glyn Jarvis had earlier been granted that honour in 2000/2001 after they resigned as directors soon after Mike Woodward joined. More recently, Tony Packer became a Life President towards the end of Andy Swallow's time at the club.
It is nice to be recognised for service to our great club.
Hopefully the younger element can now ensure we survive and thrive.
