He's so right that the powers that be in football need to wake up to the fact of just how important a local football club is to it's town and it's local community. The investment needed to keep the whole plethora of non-league and lower EFL league clubs afloat is not simply keeping the football entity alive but contributing to the well-being of a whole place, it's identity and history.
But he also mentions clubs with owners who are successful businessmen or where there are commercial sponsors able to put funds on the table. Supporter-owned clubs have none of these.
Yes, we are all desperate to return and see our clubs play again, but only when it is safe for us all to do so - and the footballing authorities need to ensure that there are clubs in existence for us to watch. It's not all about the Premier League and their billions of pounds.

That artical was very good and I agree with it. I agree with the posts here too.
Post this the leagues will have to be re done. Travelling to say Carlisle is unrealistic if you are non league and not very lucrative for either club in terms of gates as away fans will not travel that distance.
the whole finances will have to be looked into in football in general. A lot of clubs will have to play a larger part in the community outside football just to survive even acting as 12 Hour community Hubs. No doubt some clubs will disband and reform like Accrington stanley. in a rush too. (an Ian Rush). to get back to the game.
as for the football powers. I never understood the FA. How the hell as a kid Bobby Moore was treated poorly by them and never given much of a role. even when he struggled in the 80/90's I will never know. why he was not given a role. like Seb Coe in Athletics was. So I have had a downer on the FA Powers ever since.
Stay safe and Keep kicking. (Staying Alive as the Bee Gees say). Ive Just had flares come into my head like the ones Suzi Quatro use to wear. hey David.
Anyway keep safe everyone.

For the time how can grassroots football start again as if the main authorities have said "playing behind closed doors" is the way to start football again. With social distance still in place for The time being, fans are the lifeblood of non league without them no revenue then no club.

Surely with having an average gate of less than 500 social distanceing is not beyond planning..Of course the bar and coffee bar is a different case but we don't profit from them anyway,I suppose it's really down to the players ,if they are prepared to play or not

I think it will be more about the FA and the leagues above us that will determine all of this, but only after the Govt gives a much clearer steer on relaxing things.
I agree that football at and around our level could probably start sooner than higher levels with their much bigger crowds.
I'm afraid I can't see that we will get a "normal" July with pre-season, a League programme from August to April, FA Cup starting in August, etc, etc.
A shortened season seems more likely and remember summer 2021 should see the European international games.
As someone said, this is a marathon not a sprint.
I just hope we can get back to what we enjoy at our level and particularly that we can re-start our plan with Orsett Heath Academy, Treetops School and Thurrock Council all working together for a new community football facility in North Grays of which we can all be proud.

There’s a known unknown as Mr Rumsfeld would say,. If and it’s a big if the pro game gets underway behind closed doors and non league starts on the basis that with smaller gates social distancing is easier to manage. It could well be scuppered by a large increase in spectators eager to get their football fix denied to them at a higher level.
